After more than a decade of careful restoration, the Old Hope Church finally opened its doors for a very special occasion. On July 5th, the chapel hosted its very first wedding, marking a milestone in the life of this historic building.

For the past ten years, the Old Hope Society has dedicated countless hours, fundraising efforts, and volunteer work to bring new life to the little white church in Stony Plain. From repairing the roof and restoring the pews to refinishing the floors and preserving the original cross, each project has been a labor of love, aimed at keeping the church a treasured part of the community.
Hosting this wedding was the perfect celebration of all that hard work. Friends, family, and neighbors gathered to witness a beautiful union within the walls of a building that has itself been a witness to over a century of local history. The day highlighted not only the charm and character of the restored space but also its potential as a venue for creating new memories and traditions.
The Old Hope Society is thrilled to see the church serve its new purpose: a welcoming, versatile venue where life’s most meaningful moments can be celebrated. This first wedding is just the beginning, and the Society looks forward to many more joyous events in this historic landmark, continuing to honor the past while celebrating new beginnings.
